 Welcome to the Calbayog Sanitarium and Hospital. We're glad that you are here. We're a family hospital that caters to patients regardless of race, creed and socio-economic status. We're located in the middle of the Philippines [map] on the island of Samar. Calbayog is the fifth largest city in the Philippines. The hospital was started back in 1973 by Dr. Orville Varona. Back then Dr. Varona's missionary efforts included only a small boat that he used visiting the various surrounding islands providing care for the needy population. A small clinic was then established, the Calbayog Clinic, near the center of town near City Hall. |

Over time, the clinic made a strong and positive impact
on the lives of so many people in the area that by 1984
it had to move to a larger 2 hectares site to
accommodate its growth to where it resides now. Today
our hospital is rated for 15 beds and includes: 2
operating rooms, a small emergency room, 4 patient
wards, a business office, a small dental office, lab, a
conference room and offices for nursing and chaplain

wasn't that long ago we almost had to close the
hospital. But praise God for sustaining this
important health care ministry as we continue to serve
